Drying is an age-old method of preserving morel mushrooms. Dried morels will keep for months without refrigeration, and for a year or more if frozen. 1 ounce of dried morels should reconstitute to 6 – 8 ounces. Once reconstituted the morels may be sliced, chopped, or left whole. The best method is to reconstitute them in warm water
for 20 to 30 minutes. Reconstitution can also be done with milk or wine, depending upon your own taste or recipe. Saving the left over liquid for sauces and gravies is an added elusive flavor, especially good for morel soup and sauces for wild game.
